Praveen Mohandas - India
Praveen Mohandas, hailing from Thrissur, Kerala, India, is an architect and an accomplished wildlife photographer of the country. He has served on the jury panel for many national and international photography competitions and exhibitions.
While Praveen did a lot of painting and drawing in school, the fascination towards camera started slowly, and he slipped into photography. Praveen likes to loosen himself in jungles making visuals and enjoys every moment he spends in the wilderness. He strives to capture his subjects within their habitat - unwearyingly waiting for their unique behaviours to unfold before him. Most of his photographs are monochromes - he feels that black and white takes away the realism from a photograph breaking all the elements to their basic forms. All his images boasts a unique artistic reflection of the time he has spent in nature. He considers the photography as a process of distilling the reality into his personal vision where he uses different tools and techniques – including infrared photography – to achieve his goals.
Praveen's wildlife photography is the embodiment of contemporary visualization in a sophisticated and stylized pictorial framework. It is art at heart and truth in spirit.
